On 7th December, 2023, HESS received a high level delegation from the National Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MOGEI), led by the Hon. Undersecretary Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok, Save the Children South Sudan led by the Acting Country Director, Ahmed Omar, the ECW – MYRP Chief of Party – Jacob Masanso and NEC representative, for a joint Project Monitoring visit in Awerial County of Lakes State where HelpEducation SOUTH SUDAN (HESS) is implementing the Education Cannot Wait (MYRP-II)- Global Partnership for Education (GPE Flood Response project)- Construction of Permanent Learning Space and Gender Segregated and Inclusive latrine in Awerial Complex Primary School, with support from Save the Children.
The permanent facilities will now provide a safe, inclusive and quality learning environment to the school going age learners in Awerial Complex Primary School. This will also increase enrollment, attendance and retention of Girls, boys including Children with Disabilities in the school.
The Hon. Undersecretary urged the community to support the project by ensuring children come to school and learn and by allocating additional land to expand the school environment that would lead to establishment of secondary school in the future.
