At HelpEducation South Sudan (HESS), we believe that every child deserves to learn in a safe, inclusive, and peaceful environment. With this vision in mind, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the “Schools as Zones of Peace and Inclusive Environment” initiative in Cueibet County, Lakes State. This transformative project, generously supported by Save the Children through the Education Localization Fund, marks a significant step toward fostering a culture of peace, respect, and inclusivity in schools.
Before diving into solutions, our team conducted a thorough needs assessment across selected schools in Cueibet. The findings painted a clear picture of the critical gaps in infrastructure, which pose significant barriers to quality education. From insufficient classrooms to inadequate sanitation facilities, the challenges highlighted the urgency of intervention.
To address these pressing needs, HESS is taking decisive action. With support from the Education Localization Fund through Save the Children and additional funding from Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and Finn Church Aid (FCA), we will:
- Construct Ventilated Improved Latrines (VIP) to ensure safe and hygienic sanitation facilities for students and teachers.
- Renovate existing school infrastructure that has been identified as critical for creating a conducive learning environment.
These interventions will not only improve the physical infrastructure of schools but also contribute to establishing a peaceful and inclusive atmosphere where all learners can thrive.
