HelpEducation South Sudan (HESS) is excited to announce the successful completion of a new Inclusive Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) Latrine at Abiriu Primary School in Cueibet County, Lakes State. This essential WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facility was made possible through the generous support of Save the Children South Sudan, under the Education Localization Fund.
The newly constructed latrine is more than just an infrastructure project—it’s a transformative milestone for learners, especially girls and children with disabilities. It will play a critical role in preventing waterborne diseases through safe waste management, thereby promoting a healthier school environment. The facility is also designed to enhance privacy and security, particularly for adolescent girls, who often face challenges attending school during menstruation. By addressing these issues, the latrine will help reduce absenteeism and ensure that all learners can focus on their education with dignity and confidence.
This project reflects our shared commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for every child in South Sudan. We extend our deepest gratitude to Save the Children South Sudan for their invaluable support in making this vision a reality. Together, we are not only improving school sanitation but also empowering communities and building a stronger foundation for future generations.
