HelpEducation South Sudan (HESS), through the Education for All South Sudan (EFASS) Project, conducted a live radio talk show on EBENEZER Radio 96.7 FM in Kajo-Keji County as part of efforts to promote the ongoing Back-to-School Campaign.
The radio programme brought together learners, education authorities, and HESS staff to raise awareness among parents, caregivers, learners, and the wider community about the importance of returning to school and ensuring that children remain engaged in learning.
Participants in the live discussion included two learners from Kajo-Keji Secondary School, the County Education Director, the County Education Inspector, and two staff members from HelpEducation South Sudan.
Encouraging Learners to Return to School
The talk show focused on encouraging parents and caregivers to support their children to return to school, attend classes regularly, and continue their education.
Speakers emphasized that education plays a vital role in shaping the future of children and communities and that every child, regardless of gender or background, should be given the opportunity to access quality education.
Parents and caregivers were encouraged to take an active role in their children's education by supporting regular school attendance, creating a positive learning environment at home, and addressing barriers that may prevent children from enrolling or remaining in school.
Learners Adding Their Voices
The participation of learners from Kajo-Keji Secondary School provided an important youth perspective during the discussion.
The learners shared their experiences and encouraged other young people who may still be out of school to return to the classroom and remain committed to their education.
Their participation also demonstrated the importance of ensuring that young people are given opportunities to contribute to conversations and decisions that directly affect their education and future.
Strengthening Community Support for Education
Education officials highlighted the importance of collaboration between parents, schools, communities, local authorities, and education partners in improving school enrolment, attendance, and retention.
The discussion reinforced the need for collective action to ensure that children have access to safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
Radio remains an important platform for reaching communities with key education messages, particularly by creating opportunities for parents, learners, and education stakeholders to engage in conversations around access to schooling and the value of education.
Advancing Education for All Through EFASS
Through the Education for All South Sudan (EFASS) Project, HESS continues to support community engagement and awareness activities aimed at improving access to education and encouraging children to enrol, return to school, and remain in learning.
The live radio talk show on EBENEZER Radio 96.7 FM is part of broader efforts to strengthen community participation in education and ensure that parents, caregivers, and learners understand their role in promoting continuous learning.
HESS remains committed to working with education authorities, communities, schools, and other stakeholders to help ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their potential.
